Founder

Qula Madkin, MS, RD, CDCES, is not just a registered dietitian nutritionist and certified diabetes care and education specialist with 20-plus years of experience; she is a passionate advocate for health and wellness in the Southern population.

Her extensive background in clinical dietetics, worksite wellness, community nutrition, diabetes, heart health, lifestyle behavior change, and more, coupled with her expertise in dietetics, makes her the ideal leader. Her work includes building hands-on nutrition education programs and messages anchored in Southern foods, a testament to her commitment to the health of the Southern population. She recently co-authored the “Freedom for Life” cookbook with the Mississippi State Department of Health.

Qula has been mentioned and collaborated with nationally recognized media outlets like the Washington Post, Shape Magazine, All Recipes, The Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Wallethub, Shuman Farms, Healthy Family Project, and more.   Qula has partnered with nutrition companies like POM Wonderful, CrispyGreen Snacks, Brass Roots, and more to develop nutrition messages and appear online and in print in brand partnership.  She has worked with professional athletes.  Qula has spoke at national and local conferences and been a special guests on numeours podcasts and radio shows. She provides nutrition tips and recipes with a Southern twist and Real.Life.Food. on her personal platform @qulamadkinrd.

Qula believes in providing inclusive, approachable nutrition education and nutrition messages that are culturally relevant and delivered to empower people to make informed food choices. Qula’s ability to engage diverse audiences from all walks of life lends itself to her approach to meeting people where they are.

She aims to empower individuals and institutions to overcome nutritional challenges, build community resilience, and cultivate sustainable and healthy lifestyles that work.
